Nikwax Rug Proof™ has been specifically designed and optimized for breathable waterproof animal rugs and coats. It leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibers allowing moisture vapor to pass through, maintaining breathability, while protecting your animal from getting wet in the rain.

Description

Your animal is most likely to get clammy and uncomfortable in wet or damp conditions if the breathability of their waterproof rug or coat is impaired. If the outer fabric absorbs water, the rug/coat can lose up to 70% of its breathability. Therefore, the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) on the outer fabric of your animal rug/coat must be maintained to ensure comfort. It will eventually wear off and need to be renewed with Nikwax Rug Proof™.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT:

Nikwax Rug Proof adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR) while maintaining breathability. It is quick and easy to apply in the washing machine, and its DWR develops on air drying.

Finally, washing machine application ensures that the treatment goes right through the rug or coat, treating seams, tapes and cords, as well as the fabric.

WHEN YOU SHOULD USE IT:

Your waterproof animal rugs and coats could be soaking up water just because they are dirty. First, try cleaning them with Nikwax Rug Wash™ and if your animal rug or coat is fairly new, or recently re-waterproofed the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) will be revitalized just from cleaning. But, once the rug/coat has been thoroughly worn, you will need to add DWR, using Nikwax Rug Proof™, after cleaning first with Nikwax Rug Wash™.

Using the right cleaning product is as important as using the right waterproofing product. Conventional detergents leave behind a thin water-absorbent film on materials, which masks their water repellency. Therefore, always clean your animal’s waterproof rugs and coats with Nikwax Rug Wash™. Remember that dirt itself works against water repellency, so regular cleaning will enhance performance.

HOW YOU SHOULD USE IT:
